Password Authentication (Recommended for Most Users)
1. Open Data Loader on your machine.
2. In the login screen, select Password Authentication.
3. Enter your:
o Username – your Salesforce login
o Password – your Salesforce password plus your security token (if logging in from a non-trusted IP). Example:
o Password123XYZTOKEN
4. Click Login.
5. If prompted, verify via MFA (multi-factor authentication).
6. You will now be connected and can begin data import/export operations.
Using Password Authentication and you require a security token:
7. Log in to Salesforce in your web browser.
8. Click on your avatar (profile picture) → Settings.
9. Navigate to Reset My Security Token under My Personal Information.
10. Click Reset Security Token.
11. A new token will be emailed to you. Use this token appended to your password when logging in to Data Loader (e.g. Password123SECURITYTOKEN).
